Reval Stone
Reval Stone (Limestone factories of Estonia OÜ), a processor and seller of natural stone, is one of the oldest miners and processors of natural stone in Estonia. Reval Stone considers its industrial activities to have begun on October 1, 1967, when the Saaremaa plant of Eesti Dolomiit was established by a decree of the Council of Ministers of the Estonian SSR.
Since 2007 we are using the brand Reval Stone to market our products.
Relying on long-term experience and having modern equipment, we offer a wide range of natural stone products. The materials offered in our online shop include Estonian dolomite and limestone. The company has a plant in Saaremaa (Kaarma). The head office and a showroom are located in Tallinn.
Our quarries are located in Saaremaa (Kaarma and Selgase dolomite), Tallinn (Reval limestone), and Märjamaa (Orgita dolomite).
Saaremaa dolomite has been used since the 13th century as a strong, durable building material for laying castle and church walls. Good workability and weather resistance have enabled the use of dolomite in making tombstones, gate posts, balustrades, cornices, portals, pillars, and fireplaces. Nowadays, this dolomite has been used for finishing in many representative buildings in Tallinn, St Petersburg, Moscow, Riga, Vilnius, and several other cities.
Tallinn (Reval) limestone has been used as a good building stone in the Old Towns of Tallinn and St Petersburg for centuries. Nowadays, this limestone is increasingly used in interior decoration. Floors finished with tiles made of Reval limestone can be found in all Baltic states, Scandinavia, Russia, Poland, Germany, England, and elsewhere.
The dolomite from Orgita is a natural stone that is easy to process and has a unique pattern. It is quarried in the area around the former Orgita (Rosenthal) manor. Through the centuries, people have valued Orgita dolomite’s properties as a stone for finishing and for its weather resistance – it is known to have been used at least since the 14th century. Historically, the natural stone from Orgita has been used for carved stones and for exterior finishing. Nowadays it is also used in interior decoration.
We are members of the Estonian Limestone Society, the Association of Construction Material Producers of Estonia, and the Association of Estonian Mining Companies.
