Reval Stone – 55 years of high-quality natural stone products

On the first day of October, Reval Stone celebrated yet another jubilee – we consider the beginning of our activities to be on October 1, 1967, and thus we recently celebrated 55 years of operation. On this very day, the Saaremaa plant of the factory Eesti Dolomiit was established by a decree of the Council of Ministers of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic. Even today all the Reval Stone products are manufactured in our Saaremaa factory.

Two jubilees at once (55 & 15)

Actually, this is not our only jubilee this year. The trademark Reval Stone is currently owned by Limestone factories of Estonia OÜ (which was formed earlier this year when the companies Saare Dolomiit-Väokivi and Paekivitoodete Tehase OÜ merged). One of the predecessors of this new company, namely Saare Dolomiit-Väokivi, started in 2007 to market its products under the name Reval Stone. So the brand Reval Stone also has a jubilee and it’s 15 years old.

The past – even longer history

These 55 years of operation of Reval Stone indicate in a way the continuation of a significantly longer tradition. It is safe to say that our craftsmen continue the traditions which have developed over nearly 800 years. In our Saaremaa factory, we use several local natural stones to produce our products: limestone Reval which is quarried in Tallinn, dolomite Orgita which originates from Märjamaa, and dolomites Kaarma and Selgase which are quarried on the island of Saaremaa.

Limestone Reval and dolomite Kaarma are for example noble stones with a very long history. Both materials are known to have been used at least from the 13th century. Reval Stone carries on these traditions: by combining historical knowledge with modern technology, in order to produce high-quality natural stone products.

The present – our people

Reval Stone - production

Long-lasting practices and valuable materials cannot be the only key to success. For operating successfully one needs good people and we can say that Reval Stone’s products are produced by the right people. Several of our employees have contributed their energy to the company for decades – we have employees who have worked for us between 20 and 30 years.

However, there are three employees who are in a class of their own. In our Saaremaa factory, we have employees who have worked for the company for 34, 46, and 47 years. As you can see, two of our people have been with the company almost since its inception! As for those who have contributed to the company since the brand Reval Stone was launched – it is difficult to count them all.

The future – even better cooperation

We aim to offer our customers high-quality products with the fastest possible delivery times. Due to the fact that we have started using newer machines have we been able to make production more effective and this has enabled us to shorten our production times. The general conditions of our online shop state that we will ship the goods within three weeks after submitting the order and we have always kept this promise.

Naturally, it is always possible to improve things and therefore we are constantly working on upgrading the ordering and production processes. In addition to that, we are actively updating our Facebook and Instagram pages so that you will be able to get a good overview of what’s going on in our factory. If you have any good ideas on how we could further improve these processes, drop us a line or two at shop@revalstone.com.

History from the perspective of machinery

The fact that our company has a long history but is still keeping up with time can be seen from the machinery we use for production. The oldest machine still in operation is a groove-cutting machine from the year 1961! This well-preserved machine which is still important for our production process is thus six years older than the company.

However, Reval Stone keeps up with the times, and new devices are added often. We already know that we’ll be getting a new CNC machine in February 2023 (you can find out more about CNC here). We are certain that we have the right machine for every step of the production process and that operating these machines will result in products with the best possible quality.

Many more jubilees to come

The long history of using natural stones shows us that the popularity of limestone and dolomite is not declining. Our products carry on the ancient traditions – while using modern methods we can offer increasingly better quality. If you wish to have a classical material with a value that does not decline over time we recommend choosing either limestone or dolomite.

Our online shop’s product range includes floor tiles, skirtings, window sills, and countertops. If you can’t make up your mind, we recommend ordering 20 x 20 cm samples that convey well the general characteristics of the material. If you are not able to find the desired product from the online shop or if you have any other questions which need answering please contact us at shop@revalstone.com or give us a call at +372 504 7456. We will not forget to answer your inquiries quickly – even when celebrating the jubilees!
