Caring for tiles made of limestone and dolomite

What to avoid when using natural stone floor tiles?

Although it may not seem so, the tiles made of natural stone are quite fragile. Be it limestone Reval or dolomites Kaarma, Orgita, and Selgase, it is worth remembering that materials that are harder than the stone (for example objects made of metal) can easily scratch the surface of the tiles.

After receiving the tiles you ordered you must avoid leaving them outside (exposed to rain or snow). When the material is still wet and newly produced you cannot leave on its surface any objects which may prevent the tiles from drying evenly (not even pieces of paper). You can find more information about things to consider when storing floor tiles from our storage instructions page.

What to use to clean tiles made of limestone or dolomite?

Pure water is a very good solution for cleaning lightly soiled surfaces. However, if the surface is more soiled, use only special cleaning agents intended for natural stone surfaces. Since natural stone is particularly sensitive to acids, you must avoid acidic (and also alkaline) cleaning agents.

Here you can find more information about caring for limestone or dolomite.

How long do floor tiles made of natural stone last?

If the floors made of limestone or dolomite are properly cared for, the floors will last decades. Correct maintenance includes regular (but not too frequent) cleaning and avoiding unsuitable materials from getting on the stone’s surface. If you care for the natural stone floor according to instructions you can be certain that the floor will last for a long time without problems – the long durability is guaranteed by proper storing, installation, and caring for.
