When renovating a home or building a new one it is not possible to avoid the topic of which materials to use on the walls and floors. The selection in the stores is overwhelming. But one must admit that many of those options are made of artificial materials – even today when natural solutions are highly valued.
Are you looking for a suitable and nature-friendly option for your bathroom? Are you looking for a material that also looks aesthetically pretty and would also produce a luxurious feeling? No need to look any further as in that case natural stone is your best choice. In the next paragraphs, we will give you an overview of the benefits of natural stone and will also debunk some most common myths.
1. Natural stone has an aesthetic look
On the aesthetical side, it is difficult to beat natural stone – although an artificial stone can be given a very similar look, it can not compete with the original. A large number of variations makes limestone and dolomite well-suited for interior design. This also applies to Reval Stone’s materials. It is safe to say that none of our products are the same. This is because, in addition to differences between our quarries, there will never be exactly the same-looking blocks of stone in a single quarry.
One other benefit of using natural stone in bathrooms is the fact that the look is clear and natural. It is not possible to artificially replicate that. If you order floor tiles, skirting stones, window sills, and countertops made of the same material you can be certain that these will go together perfectly. And at the same time, each of these details will have its unique pattern and look.
By using our natural stone you will get a totally unique bathroom – no one can ever create exactly the same combination of patterns, tones, and colors.
2. Natural stone is luxurious
There is no better choice than using natural stone to achieve a luxurious look in your bathroom. The artificial materials may look good when looked at from a distance. But when you take a closer look and touch the surface it is clear that it can not be compared to natural stone. Although natural materials may be somewhat pricier it is often not justified to save on material. On the other hand, the materials offered by Reval Stone are cheaper than many alternatives (but won’t come off as second-best when quality is considered).
The fact that historically these materials have not been very much used in such settings makes using Estonian limestone or dolomite in the bathroom even more luxurious. Nowadays there are agents which can be used to treat such stone surfaces. This makes this type of luxury much more accessible and using natural stones in wetrooms much easier. Why not add some luxury to your bathroom and order natural stone products?
3. Natural stone is minimalist
The saying “less is more” applies well to using natural stone products. Limestone and dolomite are often discreet and do not stand out too much. This enables you to use bolder and more striking details when choosing other interior design elements for your bathroom (like faucets, sinks, bathtubs, etc.).
The limestone and dolomites offered by Reval Stone go perfectly with the Scandinavian style and they give your bathroom a minimalist and aesthetically pleasing look. It is possible to combine natural stone with other materials – some good combinations are for example natural stone and glass or natural stone and wood. In addition to that it is also possible to combine different natural stones and for example, use some darker stones with lighter limestone.
You can get a good overview of the materials we offer from a blog post on that topic.
Several other benefits
In the first three sections, we mainly discussed the benefits from the interior design point of view. However, natural stone has even more good characteristics – including durability and environmental impact. We have previously covered these characteristics in a blog post titled “5 reasons to prefer natural stone“.
Debunking some myths
We have described the benefits of natural stone in great detail. However, you might want to ask us – what are the negative sides of using natural stone? We believe that it is not right to talk about the negative sides when discussing products made of natural stone. Instead, we will debunk some of the most common myths about the material.
- Natural stone is very expensive. The purchase price of natural stone is often indeed more expensive, but when you consider the whole service life of the products it is not more expensive than the artificial materials (especially if you take care of the stone according to our guidelines).
- Natural stone is cold. Compared to artificial stones the natural stones do most certainly not feel colder when stepped on. Actually, it can be the other way around – people have described walking on a floor made of limestone Reval using such adjectives as soft, lively, and natural. In addition to that natural stone can be very well combined with underfloor heating.
- Natural stone is fragile. You must indeed follow several recommendations concerning storage after ordering natural stone, but the correct handling guarantees a long service life. It is also clear that any other product made of stone may also break if not handled correctly.
- Natural stone is a non-renewable resource. While natural stone is indeed a non-renewable material, making products out of it has a smaller environmental impact than producing stones out of artificial materials.
Tangible evidence
Reval Stone’s product range consists of four materials – limestone Reval and dolomites Kaarma, Orgita, and Selgase. Some of them are more greyish and some are more colorful. Some materials have a more uniform tone and some are a bit more variegated. But all those materials offer an excellent chance to furnish your home with style.
